Medical service Fees

When you have insurance coverage through the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP), another Canadian province/territory, University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP), College International Health Insurance Plan (CIHIP), Interim Federal Health Plan (IFHP) or Department of National Defense (DND) the cost of seeing a clinician at SHORE Centre is fully covered. Your insurance may also cover the costs associated with filling a prescription, getting blood work or having an ultrasound.

If you are not covered by any of the insurance types listed above, these are the costs for having an appointment with a SHORE clinician, you will be required to pre-pay all estimated fees at the time of appointment confirmation.

Limited financial assistance may be available for people who do not have any health insurance (eg. health card, UHIP, CIHIP, Interim Federal Health Program, private insurance, etc…) and are unable to afford the costs related to their appointment at SHORE Centre. Financial assistance should be requested prior to booking an appointment.

Counselling service Fees

SHORE Centre offers a managed sliding scale fee system for our post-abortion counselling sessions to help sustain our services while considering the financial needs of our clients. In accordance with our commitment to choice and self-determination, you are free to select which payment option (if any) most aligns with your needs

100% of your payment for post-abortion counselling sessions goes towards keeping SHORE’s services free and accessible for folks experiencing financial hardship. 

There are no fees for pregnancy options decision-making or pre-abortion counselling.

What is a sliding scale fee system?

Sliding scale is a tool that allows for services to be obtained at various price points based on the financial circumstances of those accessing services. 

 

What if I can’t afford to pay?

Choose the Free or $0 option on your intake questionnaire. This will not impact the quality of care you receive or the income of your counsellor.

 

How do I make a payment?

We accept payment through e-transfer or credit card at the end of each session.   

For in person appointments, we are also able to accept debit cards.

 

Can I get a receipt?

Once payment has been received, we can issue a receipt for you to submit your claim for

reimbursement through your insurance plan. 

 

Are counselling services covered through OHIP or other provincial health coverage?

No, counselling at SHORE Centre is not covered by OHIP. 

 

Does my private insurance plan cover this service?

Many insurance companies offer coverage for counselling with a Registered Social Worker (RSW).

Please contact your insurance provider for confirmation of your coverage before accessing care.

Counselling services provided by a Registered Social Worker (RSW) may be claimed as a medical

expense when filing your income tax return.
